My husband and I will arrive in Nice by train from Paris on July 1. We will need a hotel for 1 night as we plan to take the ferry to Corse the next day. Can someone recommend a good hotel for the night, preferably near the train station or better yet near where we will board the ferry. We will have a lot of luggage and will not be able to walk far so may need a cab if the walk is more than a block or two. We would like a hotel with air conditioning, clean, and maybe 150 to 200 Euros per night. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hotel Suisse 15 Quai Rauba Capeau. It is near the ferry and is clean with a wonderful view of the Riviera and within your price range. It is within walking distance of the ferry but prob not with luggage so a short cab ride.

I checked out the website for that hotel. IT looks fabulous Parisbaby. Thanks.

It is fabulous and the staff are very hospitable particularly the evening crew. You can have a nice meal very close to the hotel either on the Cours Seleya or Vieux Nice.

Thanks Parisbaby. I was wondering about a place for dinner nearby. Do you have any recommendations, say 35 Euros/person or less? Something that is southern France in style and taste,

I think this is the restaurant that has the fish stew/soup to die for.
It is served in a curved crock and is so good.
There is a restaurant called either Tapas or Tapenade but unfortunately I do not recall the address but is on the perimeter of Old Nice.

Thanks again. I will do some research. I have been spending so much time on the Paris aspect of our trip, that I really haven%26#39;t given Nice much thought. When we come back from Corse to Nice later in July we will have friends with us that will show us around for a few days. Thanks again.

Here is the other restaurant which I was thinking of...Crowded every night.

Dear mediamama,
I certainly wouldn%26#39;t recommed a train in France, especially from Paris to the south. The recent incidents on TGV-trains to and from Nice have been incredible. Huge groups of young North-Africans have been aggressing other passengers, stolen their belongings, destroying the interior of the trains, and they even raped a young lady on the train from Nice to Lyon a few days ago.
Even in Paris the atmosphere has changed a lot and it%26#39;s recommended to avoid especially the 9th and 10th arrondissements after dark. Also the areas near Place de la Bastille are unsafe. Better to be safe than sorry.
If I were you I would consider either taking a flight, or even skipping the Nice part of the trip. And don%26#39;t even think about Marseille.
Take care and enjoy Paris.
Whim
