I will be spending 5 nights in Paris in February 2006 and cannot decide between the Hotel De Crillon or Hotel Meurice. Would like to take into consideration the size and upkeep of the rooms.Any advice between the two?

Both hotels are in excellent location, near Louvre, Place Vendome, , Madeleine, the Opera and the Left Bank. The 2 hotels are equal in service standards, but the Meurice is more recently renovated than the Crillon, and staff a bit less formal. Room sizes are he same, but view is not. All rooms and suites at the Crillon(except the Royal ones) overlook either the pedestrian rue Boissy D%26#39;Anglas or the inner cortyard. At the Meurice, some rooms offer a view of the jardin de Tuilieries(sp?) with a view of the Eifel Tower at distance. MY choice would be the Meurice, especially if you can have a view.

My choice would be the Crillon. It is a small palace! Imagine staying in a palace!Nicer location too, imo.
The Rue de Rivoli is quite touristy. Yes it%26#39;s near Le Louvre though.

Four seasons is about to open , or opened near the crillon. any comments on this new hotel.

Last month, all of these luxury hotels were fined for running an illegal price-fixing cartel, as reported in %26#39;The New York Times.%26#39; Not my idea of a congenial atmosphere. . .
