Romantic spot for viewing the Eiffel Tower

We really want to see the Eiffel Tower lit up at night when we%26#39;re there next May but don%26#39;t think we%26#39;ll be able to go up in it then since sunset won%26#39;t be until 9:30pm and I believe that they shut down the elevator at 10pm (correct me if I am wrong). We don%26#39;t like eating dinner early or rushing through our meal. So, I was thinking that perhaps after dinner we could go to a nice romantic spot (perhaps on one of the bridges) to enjoy a view of the tower. I don%26#39;t know how close you have to be to get a good view. Can anyone suggest a romantic spot where we could enjoy this beautiful sight?

You could go to the OTHER side of the tower...the side of the Champs de Mars...it%26#39;s virtually empty, you have a wonderful view all to yourself. This would be at the tower itself, though.

A good view on the tower is from the Pont des Arts or many of the other bridges. I like the pont des arts because it is a pedestrian bridge. But there is always a crowd there it seems...

Hi - IMO the best viewing spot in the evening is from the Trocadero side - either from the balcony at the Palais de Chaillot or from the fountains/gardens below - it is simply magical - the %26quot;twinkling lights%26quot; display on the Eiffel Tower is hourly and lasts for about 10 minutes.

Trocadero has the best view but i don%26#39;t think the palace looks very romantic. The best bridge is the Alexander III bridge, very beautiful and you see the tower in the distance. Otherwise i think the Ecole Militaire side is nicer than Trocadéro

Take a night Seine river cruise with Bateaux Mouche (about 14 Euros)...I found this the most romantic to see the Eiffel Tower glitter at night. The last cruise is about 11 at night. Metro = Anvers is the subway stop for this.

Enjoy!!!

You can see the Eiffel Tower from just about any place in Paris.

I like it from the top of Printemps department store or I like to see it peek over the roofline as I walk in the 7th or 16th.

There is an excellent view from the bar on the top of Hotel Concorde Lafayette at Porte Maillot (I think it is on the 33rd floor). Advantage of that place: it is warm and you can have a glass of wine as sun is setting.

The idea of looking at it from a boat on the Seine is also appealing to me.

G Explorer, sorry but métro Anvers is wrong for a Seine Cruise, although ti=his is a great idea. There are different companies : Vedettes du Pont Neuf, métro Pont Neuf, Bateaux Mouches from Pont de l%26#39;alma (cheaper), or Bateaux Parisiens from the Eiffel tower (more expensive).

You can be up on the ET after sunset in May, but that is the one place in Paris where you are guaranteed you won%26#39;t have the view. Why not have dinner at the Cafe de l%26#39;Homme, located across the street you can have your view and enjoy your dinner, too.

Can you actually see pretty much the entire tower from the Pont des Arts and Pont Alexander III or are you just able to see the top of it?

|||

You are able to see the entire Tower from Pont Alexandre III as well as Pont des Arts.

It%26#39;s definitely in the distance from both bridges, but you can see the bulk of it. The Pont Alexandre view is probably better, but you have traffic on that bridge, where the Pont des Arts is for foot traffic only.

The thing I don%26#39;t like about the Trocadero side is all the noise...the crowd, the skaters, the mini bands, etc. It%26#39;s fine for someone who just wants to see a good view w/ the fountains and such, but if it%26#39;s romance you%26#39;re after you might not have it at the Trocadero. You could start at the Champs de Mars/ Ecole Militaire side, where there is a sprawling lawn and very few people, and then walk underneath and across the river up to the Trocadero to get that view as well. It depends on the impression you want...
