After much research, here is my plan. Could someone tell me if it makes sense? We arrive at CDG on a Thursday 9:30am and plan on buying a Carte Orange for metro/roissy travel to the hotel as well as use thru Sunday. We will then catch a Roissy Bus from CDG to Opera. Our hotel is the Muguet on Rue Chevert near the place des Invalides. So we will take the metro from Opera straight to the Ecole Militaire stop than walk to the hotel. C%26#39;est bien? Merci!

well..... it would be flawless except for one glaring oversight: the Carte Orange is only sold thru Wednesday. But you can use regular tickets. My only other advice is to make sure you have enough euro-cash handy in case you are so tired/jet lagged upon arrival that you decide to just take a cab.
But on a happier note, your hotel looks lovely and is in a good area. Have a great vacation!

Unfortunately, no. Your plan won%26#39;t work. The Carte Orange must be purchased by Wednesday for the current week. They are not sold at all on Thursday, but go back on sale again on Friday for the following week, so you won%26#39;t be able to take advantage of the benefits of the C.O.
Since you are staying at the Muguet, you might also consider the Air France bus to the terminal at Les Invalides, instead of the Roissy Bus to Opera. You could then take a taxi to the Muguet, or jump on the Metro at Invalides go the two stops to Ecole Militaire.

Well, thank you. You just saved me a headache. I think I can go with my original plan which was to purchase a visite paris zone 1-5 and still do the same - n%26#39;est pas?
|||
oh no. the paris visite is overpriced. I%26#39;d go with the 10-ticket %26quot;carnets.%26quot; you can buy several of them at once if you don%26#39;t mind carrying the extra tickets around or just buy them as you need them.

Really? We plan on going to notre dame, louvre, montmartre, versailles and st chapelle as well as champs elise...over 5 days..

When a Carte Orange isn%26#39;t an option, the Paris Visite Pass will really only save you money if you plan to ride the metro more than 20 times in a 3 day period or 30 times in a five day period. JustGrace is being polite when she says it%26#39;s overpriced, a lot of us would just say it%26#39;s a rip off. The Muguet is within walking distance to a lot that Paris has to offer, and walking is definitely part of the Paris experience, but if you do think you%26#39;ll take the Metro more than 6 times a day, then the Paris Visite might be an option. I would still vote for buying a Carnet (10 tickets for just 10,70) as JustGrace suggests.

You seem to have a good handle on it. Would I still be able to use a ticket to take the roissey bus from CDG? Thanks for all of your input everyone!

Oh and also, would a museum pass make sense if we are only planning louvre, d%26#39;orsay and maybe one other? I think not..

For the Bus from the airport, you can just buy it next to where the bus departs, i think there is a kiosk. There is no point usually buying a pass (even less so a Paris Visite, rip off) from zone 5, as Paris sightseeing is only within zone 1 and 2. You would end up paying too much. A museum pass wouldn%26#39;t do you any good, except if there are lines. If you are coming in the low season the lines won%26#39;t be long anyway.
