Depending on the address of your hotel, perhaps the best way to get from CDG to the area od Étoile / Arc de Triomphe is probably going to be via the #2 AIR FRANCE COACH, from it%26#39;s pick-up points outside of the various CDG arrival terminals.The AF busues are large motorcoaches with under-coach luggage stowage and %26#39;loaders%26#39; there to help load and unload your luggage, so you don%26#39;t have to tote it up into the bus with you. The #2 AFC stops first out at PORTE MAILLOT, then terminates at ÉTOILE / ARC de TRIOMPHE--at 2 Ave. Carnot. There is a regular TAXI PARISIEN stand right there.

The regular fare for the AIR FRANCE COACH is 12 €uro one-way / 18 €uro round-trip. You can purchase tickets for the AFC quickly, conveniently and easily at either an Air France desk in your CDG (or ORLY) arrival terminal...OR..from the bus driver as you board the AFC. There is absolutely ***NO***NO***NO*** reason why you need to or should pre-purchase these tickets from a third-party agency before arriving at CDG. If you do pre-purchase AFC tickets, you will simply pay an agency fee/commission for NO additional service or convenience.

The RER %26#39;B-3%26#39; train and ROISSYBUS connections from CDG are also good modes of airport transfer from CDG into central Paris, but each tend to serve other portions/areas of central Paris better than they do the area of Étoile/Ard de Triomphe.

If you don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage...take RER C to Chatelet. Then take ligne 1 on the Metro towards La Defense, and get off at Ch. de Gaulle-Etoile...you can%26#39;t get much closer to the Arc than that. After exiting the Metro walk to Avenue de Friedland and you will see your hotel down the block. Please note that I stated: %26quot;not a lot of baggage%26quot;, because the walk from RER C to Metro ligne 1 is long, althought the overall trip is faster than the bus.

thanks for the great detailed advice..

%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;If you don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage...take RER C to Chatelet%26lt;%26lt;%26lt;

The RER %26#39;C%26#39; lignes don%26#39;t go anywhere near CHATELET. You may have the %26#39;C%26#39; ligne confused with the RER %26quot;B%26#39;-3%26#39; ligne from CDG, which does stop at the CHATELET-Les HALLES RER (served by the %26#39;A%26#39; %26amp; %26#39;B%26#39; lignes) station several blocks north of the CHATELET Metro station.

In any event, the RER %26#39;B%26#39; ligne airport transfer doesn%26#39;t work especiallt well for a location in the neighborhood of Etoile/Arc de Triomphe---in that it would require a very LONG underground Correspondence, through the large (the complex sprawls under 20-25 square blocks), interconnected CHATELET-Les HALLES / Les HALLES / CHATELET RER / Metro train stations complex, to the #1 Metro ligne. Even then, this might not take them any nearer to their ultimate destination within Paris.

KDKSAIL...

You are absolutely correct...It is RER B from CDG to Chatelet...I have made the trip many times and for some odd reason got the letters mixed up. Although, I totally disagree with your next point!! Chatelet is a large complex, yet the walk between RER B to Metro ligne 1 is only 5-7 minutes, at most. My only concern is if one has a lot of luggage...it can be a real pain. Additionally, taking Ligne 1 to CDG/Etoile leaves you 1 block from the Royal Hotel!! So, yes, you will be very close to the final destination in Paris!

The same sort of intermittent %26#39;brain freeze%26#39; afflicts me all the time.

As to the relative ease and convenience of RER %26#39;B%26#39; (I%26#39;m ordinarily a big fan and ardent advocate) or #2 AFC, if you look at the local streetmap, the walk from the #2 AFC Étoile drop off point right at Ave. Carnot is perhaps only one additional block from the HÔTEL ROYAL (4-star) at 33 Ave. Friedland 75008, Metro: George V-- http://www.royal-hotel.com/ (assuming that it%26#39;s not the other %26#39;ROYAL HÔTEL COLISE%26#39; (2-star) at 7 rue Colisée 75008, Metro: Franklin Roosevelt-- hotel-royal-colisee-paris.federal-hotel.com/ ---a possible confusion) than from the GEORGE V station of the #1 Metro ligne---without the additional hassle of navigating through the sprawling CHATELET-Les HALLES RER/Metro station and switching trains. If walking an extra block avoids that, then it%26#39;s well worth the effort.
