Provence/Cote de Azur 6 days Honeymoon. Help!!!

June 21-26 So the first three days we%26#39;re thinking of staying in Nice for base while daytripping to Cannes, St. Tropez, Monaco. The last three days we would love to explore Provence--Avignon,Arles. Any little towns can%26#39;t miss?? Are we trying to do too much. Any suggestions on where to stay for our honeymoon and Yes we will rent a car the whole week, thanks

Nice is well worth spending time in itself but it is a good base for travelling by bus or train to Cannes, Antibes %26amp; Monte Carlo. Go by bus to village of Eze it%26#39;s lovely and Villefranche. You must visit the Old Town of Nice day %26amp; night. There are lovely restaurants which are reasonable and full of character. The Cour Saleya market during the day is great and all the wee tiny streets with small shops behind it in the Old Town. I spent 4 nights and never went anywhere but the Old Town both day and night it is so full of atmosphere, even better than Cannes. If you like jazz there is a lovely Jazz Theatre Bar called Le Bar de Oiseaux in the Old Town, very friendly %26amp; good atmosphere. Le Tire Bouchon Restaurant is great too. As for hotels, I%26#39;m not so good as I stayed in a gorgeous apartament just off Le Cour Saleya which was unbelievably gorgeous, just soooo beautiful %26amp; romantic. Every day we shopped for fresh bread %26amp; fruit in the market %26amp; walked across the road 2 mins to the beach. At night we could hear the music drifting up to us from the Old Town below. I now wouldn%26#39;t stay anywhere else, it is about £100 a night. If you want to know more about this apartment then post a reply.

Thank you for your advice, it is good to get the ball rolling on the planning. Please let me know about your apartment. We were going to stay at the Le MEridien for about US$ 300, very expensive, when we wont even be in the room very often, thank again, tell me more

I inclined to agree with talk2u. I would stay put in Nice. I wouldn%26#39;t rent a car i advance. I wouldn%26#39;t even make a program in advance. You%26#39;ve your hands full here, provided you%26#39;ve also got the time. There%26#39;s a richness of options and, for this very reason, very few, if any, musts. If you don%26#39;t see Eze, itßs not to worry about. You may instead have seen St Paul, or Peillon or Haut-de-Cagnes or Roquebrune or an other village more or less perched on a spur. In addition to the delights of the all such places, there%26#39;s any number of nice walks in the surroundings, from the peninsulas of the Cap Ferrat type to the mountain trails in the hinterland.

Hi, take a look at holiday-rentals.com property 13178. The pictures don%26#39;t do it justice, although small there is ample room for 2 and it is VERY romantic. The atmosphere is great and although very close to everything you could need for a holiday in Nice, when you close the door you feel tucked away. Owner will rent for shorter periods of a week too, she charges 100 at peak or 80 off peak.

Wow, not bad, I tooka look at the property 13178 in Nice, it is perfect!! I sent an email and am crossing my fingers. The website stated it%26#39;s available but you never know--Thanks alot!! For that price I can stay there and drive around everywhere else. I will let you know

Why not combine your reception with your honeymoon, and spend the week celebrating with your friends and family. I know a lovely Bastide close to me that is available.

Spent 4 days in Nice and 3 days in Avignon in Sept. I think you%26#39;re going in the lavender season, which will be just perfect. I loved St Paul de Vence, a short day trip from Nice(gorgeous little village with many small art galleries). In the Avignon area, I loved Rousillon, famous for its red ochres. (we also travelled to Eze,Antibes, Monaco, St Remy, Les Baux,Gordes,Bonnieux, Pont du Gard)

You could consider making your base near to Isle sur la Sorgue so that it is close to all the hill top villages in the Luberon and close to Avignon and not far from St Remy. We have a lot of people who stay with us for three and four days and manage to see the whole area.It is so beautiful in June with wonderful weather and yes the lavender fields are in full bloom. Good Luck

Hi, i was wondering where this Isle sur la Sorque is. I tried to look for it but it doesn%26#39;t show up in any of the travel books. Lavender fields, i can%26#39;t wait. I am looking into going to Grasse to the perfume factory. I ended up booking the apartment in Nice.

Isle-surSorgues is some 30 km east of Avignon (look for route N100 and you should find it)
