Driving from Paris to Amboise

We are planning to say a few days in Paris at the end of March. We will be staying near the Musee de Lourve (Hotel Regina) and would like to rent a car so we can drive from Paris to Amboise and take a look around the Loire Valley. I have gotten a quote from autoeurope and they mentioned that the rental location at 8 Avenue Foch (near the Arc de Triumph) would be a close by location and at the same time offer an easy egress from Paris. Any opinions as to alternative locations (or perhaps better rental car brokers?) Thanks for your advice in advance.

I use Avis these days when I rent a car. They have good week end packages and their lot is right under the Madeleine church.

I rented at CDG. It means you don%26#39;t have to drive in the city centre and means that you can drop the car off before you fly home. Driving in Paris scares the hell out of me!

We stayed 4 nights in Loire V, and picked up our car at the Avis at Gare St Pierre-des-Corps, outside of Tours. Amboise is very near this area. We took the TGV to St Pierre-des-Corps, stayed 2 nights in Amboise and 2 nights in Chinon, then turned the car in to Avis and took the TGV back to Paris. We had never driven in Europe before this.

Over the last few years, AutoEurope has become the rental firm of choice for many savvy travelers. Their prices and service are hard to beat. I have picked up cars at the Avenue Foch location (I believe this is Europe Car) and it does allow (via the périphérique) relatively easy egress from Paris. Several tips you may want to consider:

1. Ask for a car that burns diesel (gasoil) as it is much cheaper in France than gasoline and just as readily available.

2. Avoid the weekend rush by planning a Paris departure other than on Friday evening and avoid a return Sunday evening. You%26#39;ll only make this mistake once.

3. Leaving the car at the airport does costs more (about 20 euros I think), but there are few if any airports that are quicker and more convenient for rental car return than CDG.
