Loire Valley One day itinerary

I would love suggestions on how to make the best of 12 hours in the Loire Valley. Will be renting a car out of St. Pierre des Corps Gare. Would like to visit three castles, a winery and drive through small towns.

Use a mapping website such as viamichelin.com to map out your route. Depending on time of the year, the castles may close at 4:30 in the afternoon.

This will be a bit rushed but drive east to Chenonceaux for your first visit, then head northwest to Chateau Chambord stopping perhaps for lunch at La Botte d’Asperge in Contres or at the Hotel des Trois Marchands in Cour-Cheverny. (Chateau Cheverny is worth a visit but time does not permit.) Visit chateau Blois in the city center on your return south to Tours. Check a map for specific route information but this will let you see the most well known of the Loire Valley chateaux.

Thank you very much for the great detail. I so look forward to my visit and do so because of your efforts and encouragement.

If you can go to the library and get a copy of %26quot;Michelin Chateaux of Loire Valley%26quot; It is a great reference book! with maps. It shows routes and tells you about each castle and town to visit.

Another suggestion is to visit Amboise. If you don%26#39;t want to travel too far to the chateaux there is a great park called %26quot;Mini Charteaux%26quot; which is sign posted and has replicas of 40 chateaux in the loire region and if you want to go into the town of Amboise there are 2 choices. The main chateau and then up a little road is the %26quot;Clos Luce%26quot; which has many machines and pictures by De Vinci and is very interesting. If you enjoy wine tasting after that just go down the road to Vouvray and find one of the winery%26#39;s which let you sample all of the wines of the region
