But if you do not need to be in the immediate area, then you might do better with hotels a bit farther west into the 5eme-Latin Quarter, along the #10 Metro ligne, which has a stop at Gare Austerlitz. Depending on which of the several entrances to this sprawling (over several square blocks) complex you use, the Gare Austerlitz station may be closer than the Saint Marcel Metro station. The 5eme will be more conveniently situated for doing other things in Paris besides visiting the hopital. There will be more restaurants, cafés, night life and easier access to major sites and attractions.
