Luggage Storage at Chartres train station?

We%26#39;re going to France this spring, and plan to travel to the Loire Valley from Paris. I%26#39;m wondering if we should simply go to Chartres sort of on our way to the Loire Valley, rather than as a day trip from Paris. Does anyone know if there would be a place to store our luggage at the Chartres train station? Thanks!

According to the SNCF, there are NO Left Luggage (Les Consignes) facilities at the train station at CHARTRES (nor have I noticed any when passing through the station there)--

Thanks so much, KDKSail. Sorry, I didn%26#39;t realize what %26quot;no left luggage meant%26quot; -- seems obvious, now.

I have another question for you, now: Do you know if Loire Valley Chateaus will be open on Ascension Day and that weekend? Or do you know how I can find out? Thanks much.

Not sure...but since the holiday is largely religious, I suspect that most will be open for business as usual...but many have web sites for more specific information. Which chateau are on your %26#39;..wish list..%26#39; for this visit??

Thanks for your prompt replies!

I couldn%26#39;t find anything specific about closings on this holiday; it may be too early. From what you%26#39;re saying, we should be ok, though. We%26#39;re interested in Chenonceau and Chambord, and then we%26#39;ll play it by ear. I%26#39;m thinking we%26#39;ll stay in Amboise.

We plan to rent a car in the Loire Valley and then, after visiting chateaux, drive up to Caen/Bayuex, then to Mont St Michel, along the coast to Dinard, and if time %26amp; distances permit, to Carnac to see the menhirs. Finally, train from Rennes back to Paris for the flight home. We would have about a week for all this (after a week in Paris). Does it sound doable to you? Any other suggestions? I%26#39;d been adamant about using the train, but it seems that a car would work much better for the Loire Valley and Normandy. Oh -- one last question: how are the crowds in mid/late May, including in Paris? Thanks again!

For the excursion you propose, rental car is probably the only way that it can be done. Though most of the locations along your itinerary are generally accessible by train, the rub comes when trying to get between train stations and sites. There are taxis and regional bus service....%26#39;---at best a %26#39;..clunky..%26#39; mode of getting about. The rental car also provides you with the flexibilty and options of looking a a map, then looking at your proposed itinerary and be able to say %26quot;..Nah..Let%26#39;s do something else instead..%26quot;

Sounds great, and I%26#39;ll check out those sites.

Merci!
