singe,female, and fifty

although i have been to paris many times; last year after getting a divorce and turning fifty(within the same week!)..i rented an apartment and flew to paris for over a month..loving every minute, i was surprised that,especially, towards the end of my trip..i was lonely(and i think still in shock)..anyway, i leave again end of january/06..and was wondering if anyone knew of a place where i may meet people or just feel comfortable..i never really tried last year but life is what we make it..this forum has been so helpful, thanks to all

%26lt;%26lt; but life is what we make it%26gt;%26gt; With that philosophy you are sure to attract people and have a better time this year!

There are dinners for visitors every week, often hosted by local expats. This site is a good start: goeurope.about.com/od/parisdinnergatherings/

Get a Pariscope and a FuSAC magazine to find out what is going on while you are here, there may be book signings, knitting clubs or other events at the anglo bookstores.

Consider doing a walking tour... a nice way to hang with strangers for a few hours each day. As you are alone it is very likely someone will %26quot;adopt%26quot; you and invite you to lunch or dinner.

Take a cooking class with Anne Sfez, that will insure one night out with others, and you getting a cooking lesson to boot.

www.parlerparis.com has a gathering to meet people on (I think) the second tuesday of the month for a couple of hours.

One thing that always pleasantly surprises me is how attractive an older woman can feel in France. I feel pretty much invisible when in the States not being young and svelt but not in Paris! I%26#39;ve had several attempted pick-ups which totally surprised me. The fact that one of the men had a cane doesn%26#39;t matter--I always feel like, %26quot;Hey, maybe I%26#39;m not so bad!%26quot;

In that case, I recommend that you go to Cuba. Plenty of younger men will make you feel desired.

Oh my, what is the world coming to....I am actually wondering what Oxnithoryx had to say!

1parisgo- Check out La Caveau de la Huchette (Latin Quarter). It is a casual, unpretentious jazz cellar and the locals and tourist go there to mingle and dance. Expect you will be asked to dance and you will meet people. It is a lot of fun. My Mom and I started going there a couple years ago (I am married and she is single). There are all ages and my Mom met a nice dancing friend and when we went back she met up with him to dance again! Very friendly place!!

Cover is about 10E.
