Strasbourg-safe and welcoming to NON-CAUCASIANS?

Hi.I am toying with the ides of taking a two-three month French course at one of the Alliance Francaises in Alsace-Strasbourg,Thann,Wasselone,Barr.I am Asian and would like to know whether 1)I might have any PROBLEMS BEING AN%26quot;ETRANGERE%26quot;(I have an Anglo-Saxon-like mentality;),2)the natives are friendlyish,3)the small towns, besides Strasbourg would be too awkward and provincial?I am now residing in Vienna and CAN%26#39;T ABIDE THE PEOPLE HERE!!!

Thanks in advance,all advice welcome.

I live in Strasbourg and can tell the city is Etrangere friendly. Don%26#39;t forget the city is the seat of the European Parliement as well as The Council of Europe and nine other Euro organisations.

Regards

yes you will be fine - the french are just as bad as the Austrians They only really care about themselves so will probably just ignore youµ. Lots of Students here though and lots of Asian. consider Universite populaire too - cheaper but not intensif! better teachers though than Alliance Francaise which when i went had a uni student masquerading as a teacher

Also its really boring to live here DULL is not the word! try Paris for more fun and better tuition!

good luck

Oops, somehow the new mail notification wasn%26#39;t working, wondered why it%26#39;s so quiet! Thanks Rackyc and JMLATH.Esp, the part about the similarities between the Austrians and the French!!Those NOT from VIENNA are considerably MORE PLEASANT TO BE AROUND though.Have met some French people here, both at my French institute and at public places.Nearly all are nice, perhaps people are FREINDLIER ABROAD,NON?:)Never to France,BIT WARY of going there though my French is sufficient if I get lost-I THINK!:))

There was also a (sophomore or junior )college student taking my SEMI-PRIVATE German class at INLINGUA school in 2001!Though she wasn%26#39;t too bad,was very enthusiastic.Believe the language schools slip in a %26quot;freshie%26quot; or two sometimes.Inlingua%26#39;s also somewhat unique in that they swap teachers midway thru the course for optimum exposure
