HELP!! Can't find QUIET hotels in Paris

HELP!! Can anybody recommend a QUIET (and reasonably priced) hotel in Paris eg in the Montmartre area or the Latin Quarter. Most of the hotels I%26#39;ve checked out on the net have visitors%26#39; complaints re the amount of noise (from fellow guests, and the street outside).

I%26#39;m not sure how you define %26quot;..most..%26#39; but your description sounds a bit of a stretch. With most hotels, rooms on the upper floors, at the back of the hotel will be relatively well %26#39;insulated%26#39; from street noise. There%26#39;s no acounting for the noises made by other guests in adjoining room.

Hotel le Tourville in the quiet 7th. A really nice place.

Hotel le Saint Gregoire(sister hotel) in the 6th.

These aren%26#39;t in your suggested areas, but I%26#39;ve been to both and haven%26#39;t heard a peep.

You can%26#39;t expect to book a hotel in %26quot;tourist central%26quot; with all the traffic, bars, clubs, restaurants and also expect it to be quiet.

But I have heard that rooms in Hotel des Grand Ecoles are quiet, b/c they%26#39;re on a courtyard.

You need to find hotels that are off the main drags, ie. NOT on blvd St Germain, blvd St Michel, etc. Look for those on small (1-lane) side streets. Move away from the center of town just a bit. Ask for the quiet rooms (usually %26#39;courtyard%26#39; which may just mean %26#39;air shaft%26#39;).

Then there is the issue of interior noise - many hotels have not sound-proofed the walls of their rooms, so you hear doors closing, people talking, plumbing,e tc. That%26#39;s the noise you need to read up on in the reviews.

If all else fails, bring soft earplugs and/or a small %26#39;white noise%26#39; machine.

The quietest hotel we%26#39;ve stayed in is the Tryp De Saxe in the 7th. I%26#39;m a very light sleeper and yet I slept like a baby there. The beds were very comfortable too. I did think it was a bit out of the way, but maybe that%26#39;s why it was so quiet.

Have you looked at Hotel Grand des Ecoles?? It is in the 5th, set back in a garden off of Rue des Ecoles. It is supposed to be very quiet and it is very popular! It is well known for it%26#39;s charm and bed and breakfast style.
