romantic, inexpensive hotels in Paris?

Hello,

My husband and I will be spending our honeymoon in Paris in late March/early April. I have been to Paris before (stayed at le Petit Trianon, which I loved in 1999 but doesn%26#39;t have good reviews on TA) but my husband has not. We are looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel, but one that has some charm and is close to the metro. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Romantic and inexpensive would be a good description of the Hotel St. Jacques in the Latin Quarter. It is the hotel where %26quot;Charades%26quot; was filmed with Cary Grant. It is small, centrally located one block from metro and very charming. The rooms had antique doors and molded ceilings. There was a spiral staircase and a very charming breakfast room. It rates very high on this board and books up early so you better book now. I will be in Paris starting March 23 and have decided to try Hotel College De France which would be a good back-up for you, but not as romantic as the St. Jacques.

While I hope to rent an apartment myself in October and love the idea, I am not sure I would recommend it for a honeymoon. Well, I would just think about the ambiance you are looking for before choosing an apartment. Some people like the welcoming feeling of having a hotel staff available when returning to a hotel and when checking in and also the coziness that a small hotel gives because you can get recommendations from the hotel staff, check luggage before/after room is available and get assistance anytime day/night. In an apartment, you usually do have to go shopping as soon as you arrive for necessities and you are more independant. Just want to point this out.

It also depends on how long you are staying. An apartment makes the most sense for a week or longer, requires a sizeable deposit in most cases and takes a bit more research.

Best of luck!

Grand Hotel Jeanne d%26#39;Arc in the Marais (4th).

Luxury? No.

Charm and quirkiness and cleanliness? Yes.

For 82 euros/night for a double, how could you beat this?

TIP: Ask for a higher floor with a view of Paris rooftops.

CHEERS!
