Things to do and see in Paris

My sister and I are taking our 1st trip to Paris on March 21st thru 31st. Our first 6 days will be in the Latin Quarter. We were hoping for any suggestions on other parts of Paris to see and do for the remainder time.

THANKS,

STEPHANIE

Frankly, I don%26#39;t understand why you would want to limit yourselves to the quartier latin for 6 days. Paris is a big city - explore! There are literally hunderds of sights, museums, rides - it all depends on what you%26#39;re interested in. The quartier latin is only one small part.

Shopping? Don%26#39;t miss Au Bon Marché, Galeries Lafayette, Printemps, BHV, etc.

Museums? Louvre, Beaubourg, Jeu de Paume, Rodin, Marmottan, Fondation Cartier, etc.

Churches? Parks? Don%26#39;t get me started!

You might want to study the metro system a bit before you leave - it%26#39;s not that complicated and it will get you anywhere within Paris. The RATP site (http://www.ratp.fr) has information in english too - though they do not mention the %26quot;Carte Orange%26quot; (a weekly or monthly card) to tourists. There are plenty of posts on this forum about it.

Thanks so much for all the good info. Would you suggest that we change hotels, or could we explore more without changing.

The 5th is a good location as a home base.

I stayed in the 5th 4 of the 5 years I have

visited Paris.

You can walk to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 6th

without much effort.

If you become familiar with the metro you

can go just about anywhere.

West to La Defense, North to Canal St. Martin

and East to Pere Lachaise Cemetery.

I would not change hotels. Get a good

guide book and a STREETWISE - PARIS map

and make your plans.

Best Wishes

There%26#39;s no reason at all to change hotels. Not only is the Latin Quarter a wonderful area, it is also centrally located, and what you can%26#39;t walk to, the metro will take you to with no trpuble at all.

I fell much better about our plans. Great information from everyone. Thks

HI! I am staying in the latin quarter at the very same time as you are with a couple of my girlfriends. You have chosen a great area to stay in and I agree with everyone else that you don%26#39;t need to change locations as Paris is very compact. Do you have any specific questions on the topic %26quot;things to do and see in Paris%26quot;? I am sure you plan to do a lot of the major sights, but how about at night, what are your plans? Just curious! Me and my friends may arrange a meeting with TA folks while we are there at a Latin Quarter restaurant and then to Le Caveau de la Huchette for music and dancing, so if you are interested stay tuned to TA. We will post info in a few weeks!

To get acquainted with some of the areas, look into this ...

You can plan on one or two to see how you like them, and if you are interested in an area, you can go back on your own.

??? I%26#39;m so confused....you plan on not leaving the confines of the LQ for 6 days? Or you are staying in a LQ hotel for 6 days and want to switch later?

In that case, I agree that you shouldn%26#39;t switch unless you don%26#39;t like the place. THe LQ is a great place to stay.

Sorry, Being so not familiar with Paris, I didn%26#39;t realize that one can explore so many districts and sites without leaving a area that is centrally located. Latin Quater will be are home base. We are staying for tens days. We were going to stay for 6 and try to go to london for 3 days but couldn%26#39;t figure out the best transportion to and from.
