Touring Northern france

Please can someone advise on where to visit. Northern France?? We are planning two weeks in the summer, we don%26#39;t need hotels as we are taking the caravan (any sites recommended??)There are 2 families, with kids aged 16, 14, 13, 9 and 18 months. We%26#39;ll maybe take in Disneyland, but I%26#39;m unsure where else to visit (preferably somewhere the kids will enjoy). We all enjoy walking and countryside as well as the %26#39;normal%26#39;things kids enjoy! We will be travelling from York, so quite a long drive even before we get to the ferry. All help very much appreciated!!

Nicky, if you take a look at the KeyCamp web-site (http://www.keycamp.co.uk/) they have two camp sites in St. Valery sur Somme and Houlgate which both take caravans (You would probably need to book with the site owners direct, but Keycamp should be able to help there) and are 4*. We have stayed in both and loved them.

I did a post for Rach1 on St. Valery sur Somme in the Normandy Forum yesterday. This gives a good overview of what to do there. Our gang are 5, 9 %26amp; 13.

I will locate and bump up the other post now. Get back to me if you need any further information.

Before we get into talking about Northern France.

Have you thought about taking the Hull-Zeebrugge ferry?

Saves the long drive through Englandshire.

It%26#39;s a great crossing. Used it loads of times myself. I%26#39;m in Scotland and don%26#39;t like the long drive to England%26#39;s south coast.

It%26#39;s a great crossing (oh, I%26#39;ve already said that). Loads for the kids to do on board. Good restaurants and bars.

Sails about 6-ish (pm).Gets in about 6-ish (am).

A hop-skip-and-a-jump from Zeebrugge and you%26#39;re in Northern France.

Just a thought.

A reasonable camp/caravan site close to Calais is Chateau du Gandspette, in Eperleques close to St Omer. It is a spacious site with lots of facilities including two swimming pools and a restaurant and bar comlex. It is a spacious grassy site with woodland walks.

It is possible to visit the Belgian coast from here - the first seaside town in Belgium, de Panne, has lots for the children including a wide clean sandy beach. A quite different atmosphere to France.
