Sud-Corse Summer 2006

I%26#39;m looking to book for a fortnight next summer and know that we want to be based in the South, with proximity to the beaches, Porto Vecchio and Bonifacio. Ideally we%26#39;d like there to be a least a couple of bars/restaurants withing walking distance, and the beach too if possible, though we%26#39;re happy to drive for shops/beaches/sightseeing. I%26#39;ve found some great residences in the following areas and wondered if anyone has any favourites? The pictures all look beautiful, but there%26#39;s little mention of what amenities there are.

Shortlist:

Marina Rossa or Caranella at Cala Rossa

Belvedere or Palmiers de Palombaggia

Plage de Pinarello

E Cassette or Marina Village in Porto Vecchio

Long list of possibles in Santa Giulia.

I%26#39;d be grateful for further info on any of these, or other recommendations.....

...there are no stones just white sand for hundreds of meters plus real nice bars direct at water with relaxing cafe-del-mare-music all day and good food too...

we loved it!

we go camping at ghisonaccia - arinella bianca campsite - restaurant, bar shops, 2 pools, v. near village %26amp; 1hr bonifacio/porto vecchio. they have mobile homes %26amp; bungalows too http://www.camping-corse.fr/. there are great beaches at the site or less than 1 hr away at st guilia or palombaggia %26amp; 1 hr in the other direction are stunning mountains. the best place in the world....

Hi,

That%26#39;s really useful. Are there more bars/restaurants within walking distance of the campsite - you said the village was near. Have you stayed in the mobile homes?

as long as you don%26#39;t go to the hotel U Capu Biancu the region is beautiful. We had a very bad experience with U Capu Biancu and would like to avoid that other travellers go through the same!

Hi Jodles

I have been to Corsica the last 2 years %26amp; camped at arinella bianca( check out the website). It is about 35 mins walk from the town of Ghisonaccia- it has plenty of shops, big super u (supermkt)market days, restaurants, bars etc. Arinella Bianca itself has a good restaurant %26amp; bar, and within 5 -10 mins walk of the campsite are 2 supermarkets %26amp; about 5 restaurants. If you walk about another 20 mins there are a few more restaurants b4 you hit the town. The campsite has 2 swimming pools, a tabac, a supermarket, a fishing lake, bar, restaurant, ice cream shop, take away, and has direct acces to a good beach. I have stayed in Eurocamp tents the last 2 years but this year am booking a mobile home or chalet direct with the campsite. They all look v. good , modern, v. clean. I love this site %26amp; cannot recommend them highly enough. While in Corsica you should also know that Bonifacio is stunning!! So i the Col de Bavella, and go to the beaches at pinarellu/Palombaggia/ St guilia. The best restaurant around the campsite is about a mile away on the main rd, called oasis. I would say you need to hire a car too as buses are not v.good. HOPE ALL THIS HELPS!

Can any one advise on eating places close to santa Guilia beach, we are hoping to stay at the castell verde St Guilia self catering in june 2006, we like to walk to our evening meal.

I noticed on the Michelin map today the camp site at St Guilia, so hopefully there is eating places
