Something Different

I%26#39;ve been to Paris on a number of occasions before (somewhere approaching 10 I think) and I%26#39;ve pretty much done all of the major sights at least once.

I%26#39;m going again this year in March (to see the rugby primarily !) but I have two days in which to see Paris. Any suggestions on something different to do ?

Have you visited the musée Nissim de Camondo or the Gustave Moreau? There are both unique in there way.

If you understand French there is a large selection of detailed guide tours (visite-conférence) listed in the Pariscope, there are always new ones because discovering Paris does take a life time.

Have you visited the reception rooms of the Hotel de ville?

Also there are always great exhibits going on. Montmarthe behind the Sacré-Coeur is a maze of great littles street to explore.

I will going to Paris next May for the 14th time and I am not even half way to my ever growing list, I am sure the others will have a lot of suggestions.

OK, I am sure you have seen place des Vosges in the Marais district. If not, you must see it.

Also worth visiting the musée Carnavalet (history of the city of Paris) and musée Jacquemart André... that is if you are into museums.

If you want to see things out of the beaten tracks, you may want to venture near La Vilette or the Bibliotheque Francois Mitterrand in the 13th arrondissement.

There is a vampire museum, a restuarant where the wait staff is blind and you eat in absolute pitch black (Dans le Noir), Le Frigo artist squat, the Viaduct des arts, Dance classes, The hammam of the mosque de Paris....

Give us your interests and there is something out there just for you!

How about chateau de Vincennes and the area around it?

And have you ever been to Malmasion, Josephine%26#39;s home just outside Paris? She is buried there. Public bus from La Defense.

The cathederal St.Denis is great too. Almost all the kings and queens of France are there. Be sure to take a tour behind the altar. North just outside Paris and the last stop on the metro.

And there is Fountainblu and the nice town of Avon.
