my wife and i are staying at the holiday inn in february what is the area called and what is it like,is it safe.does anybody know of any nice average priced restaurants in same area, and bars were i can get a pint of bitter.

Rue Victor Hugo is a VERY nice area, with lots of interesting buildings and a very nice park at the corner of Victor Hugo and Gambetta Blvd. (Jardin Alsace Lorraine it is called). I consider that are as safe and it is about 10 minutes from Rue Masséna where you have lots of restaurants and even a pub for beer (on Rue jaubert). Also close to Rue Jean Médecin for shopping.
La Maison de Marie on rue Masséna is good, so is Vendôme restaurant at Place Grimaldi (very good meat dishes)
