Wine classes Chateau

I am planing being on visiting Bordeaux at the end of October with my wife. I am not so knowledgable about wines and would lke to take a wine class, plus a visit to several wineries. If possible, I would like to combine the stay in a Chateau.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated??

The Bordeaux tourist office (www.bordeaux-tourisme.com) offers half day tours to vineyards several days a week. There are good chateaux all over the area. A very nice one is the Chateau Grand Branet, SE of Bordeaux. It%26#39;s at the edge of the Cotes de Bordeaux and Entre Deux Mers regions. Though Mme. Mainvielle doesn%26#39;t speak more than a few words of English, she%26#39;s a great hostess. The Chateau is beautiful, the rooms large, and there%26#39;s a small winery on the grounds. she will serve (on prior reservation) a very good several course dinner.

You can check them out at www.entredeuxmers.com/chateaugrandbranet

Oops, I hit the Post button before finishing. If you want a couple of B%26amp;B recommendations that aren%26#39;t chateaux, but are great places, email me at diane@westwindtours.us. We love B%26amp;B%26#39;s, especially those that also offer an evening meal. France has a zero tolerance policy now for drinking %26amp; driving, so after wine with dinner I like the idea of just having to climb the stairs to my room.

Have you considered touring the region with Gourmet Touring? In my opininion having been on one of their tours no-one knows the region better. I stayed in a mixture of Chateau and chambre d%26#39;hotes and visisted a number of wine chateau. Importantly, they are definitely not wine snobs.

One way to educate yourself in wines is to go shopping. I spent many pleasant hours browsing in the caves of the large Bordeaux supermarches and the downtown wine stores, with a Guide Hachette or Parker along for reference. Though you will find these wines all over the world (and often at better prices), the on-shelf selection in Bordeaux is truly amazing.

Any website for Gourmet Touring?

Their website is http://www.gourmet-touring.com, say that you heard of them from Phil Rushall.
