advance museum passes

are the advance museum passes bought in the uk worth buying to beat the queues for the eiffel tower, louvre etc please

The passes bought in advance will have the price marked up - they%26#39;re very easy to buy at face-value once in Paris. They do -not- include the Eiffel Tower. Their value can only be ascertained by figuring which museums you want to see over what # of days, those entrance fees and then compare to cost of the pass. Sometimes it is not worth it. The lines are mostly long during high season, April-Sept or so... There are multiple entrances for the Louvre, not just the main queue at the pyramid.

my personal opinion is that any time you can beat one of the lines, you%26#39;re doing well. Another benefit is that you might explore some of the smaller museums you never heard of simply because it%26#39;s on the pass. And if you don%26#39;t care for that museum, you haven%26#39;t wasted any additional funds.

We ordered them in advance through Expedia and picked them up a block from the Louvre. Might have been a little more money than purchasing them in Paris, but it was quick and easy.

But WOW- they were such a time saver! The line at the Orsay museum must have been at least 30 minutes, and it was great to skip through it. The Louve had a bunch of lines, but it still was nice and easy. We also used them at the Arch. I think we came out about eve on the money, but we both agreed it was worth it.

Not sure how you benefited in ANY way through advance purchase...by collecting your passes in Paris anyway. These passes are quickly, easily and readily available at most Metro station ticket windows and Tourist Information desks ALL OVER PARIS....and since you are never more than 500 meteres (most usually within 100-200 of two or more different stations) meters of a Metro station.

It is almost always a very bad idea to pre-purchase either CARTE MUSÉES et MONUMENTS museum passes or PARIS VISITÉ transportation from any third-party agency before arriving in Paris...there is one exception to the %26#39;rule%26#39;: if you%26#39;re the sort of traveler who enjoys WASTING money...then it%26#39;s a pretty good idea...not as good as shredding €uro and watching them make swirly paterns as you flush them down a toilet...but not bad.
