RER to Chantilly

I know that the RER D line goes to Chantilly/Gouvieux. Does anyone know what zone Chantilly is considered to be in?

There is quite some confusion about that actually. The train line does go to Chantilly, but my understanding is that it falls outside Zone 5 which is the last zone any passes would cover. The RER map does not show Chantilly - the last stop (outside zone 5) is Orry-la-Ville /Coye.

I believe you would have to buy a supplementary ticket from Survilliers-Fosse station(last one in zone 5) to Chantilly. (or just get a ticket for the full route via Gare du Nord).

The zones do not apply outside the Ile de France.

You need to buy a Paris-Chantilly ticket from your departure station (Chatelet/Les Halles).

It is faster (25 v 45 min) to take the SNCF train direction Creil from the Gare du Nord (they leave hourly).

I get this info from Annabel Simms%26#39; book, One Hour from Paris

I%26#39;m not sure which transportation Zone CHANTILLY-GOUVIEUX is in--but it would be either Zone 7 or 8...and not served directly by the RER %26#39;D-1%26#39; ligne and well outside of Zone 1-5. As has been suggested, with a Zone 1-5 transportation pass, you could take the RER %26#39;D%26#39; ligne to SURVILLIERS-FOSSE station (still within Zone 5) and then purchase a SNCF ticket onward to GARE DE CHANTILLY- GOUVIEUX. It would be 40 minutes from Paris to SURVILLIERS-FOSSE, then the train change, and then another 15 minutes, via SNCF to GARE de CHANTILLY-GOUVIEUX.

Perhaps the easiest way to get out to Chateau de Chantilly from Paris is to simply take a regular SNCF train from GARE du NORD to CHANTILLY-GOUVIEUX. The direct SNCF train would only take 25-30 mins. roundtrip fare 13,40 €uro.

to go to Chantilly i always take the normal train from Gare du NOrd. From the station you need to walk a good 20-25 minutes to reach the chateau (closed on tuesdays i think). Also check out the Ecuries royales for demontration of horses.
