ferris wheel

is the ferris wheel in paris worth going on?

|||

Absolutely !!! You will get the best views and photo opportunities.

Hasn%26#39;t that disappeared? As far as I know, %26quot;La Grande Roue%26quot; at the Place de la Concorde only had a temporary licence, which expired some years ago. The wheel was put in storage in january 2002, and offered for sale (3 million euros).

There is a ferris wheel brought out every so often...we rode one in 2001 that was set up between Tuileries and Concorde. Since then, it has been set up alongside Tuileries/Rivoli. It isn%26#39;t a permanent fixture. They don%26#39;t take long and you can get good/different photos...

As mentioned, there is a ferris wheel set up seasonally at the small amusement park on the rue de Rivoli-edge of Jardin des Tuileries. Back in 1999, there were twenty(20) ferris wheels temporarily erected along Champs Élysées, from Étoile to Place de la Concorde as part of the pre-millennium celebration, with the large Millennium Wheel erected on Place de la Concorde. The Millennium Wheel remained on Place de la Concorde until 2002, when the city refused to renew the lease and ordered it removed. The owners were supposed to move it and reassemble it at another Paris location...but it never happenned. I think it may still be for sale by the owners, if you%26#39;re looking to replace the rusted old %26#39;jungle gym%26#39; in you backyard??

It is placed on Concorde square only for the Christmas celebrations so it may leave very soon.

|||

It was still up yesterday. But if it is gone before you arrive, check out the Centre Pompidou and the view from the 5th floor.

|||

I had a look from the Louvre and it looks like it is gone!

|||

hey, thanks for checking it out for me!

|||

If it is still there...NO, it%26#39;s not worth it!! I must tell you, we went on it at Christmas this year, and we were terrified! It stops frequently, and if there is any wind at all (and there didn%26#39;t even seem to be much), it really starts moving to and fro, and I swear you feel like you%26#39;re going to fall into the void! We had two children with us (for 4 adults!) and they were cautious kids (4 and 2), hanging on to us for dear life, yet I swear that we could have easily lost them had we not held tightly!

It scared the begeezus out of me..and I happened to enjoy the much higher one in Chicago (at least it%26#39;s better enclosed!)

For what it%26#39;s worth, if it%26#39;s still around...
