Canadian community in Paris

Hi there,

I am Canadian and I am wondering if there is a big Canadian community in Paris. Does anyone know? Are there activities for Canadians?

Thanks,

Annalef

For the most part the community is Quebecoise. There is a Canadian cultural Center on rue de Constantine, near Les Invalides. Le Monde a Paris is a good guidebook that has more info on the Canadian scene in Paris, you can browse through it at your local bookstore without actually buying it.

They mention weekly cocktails at the embassy as well as the website france-canada.org.

For a less formal atmosphere you could do worse than one of the Candain bars -

THe Moosehead near metro Odéon (16 rue des Quatre Vents) or The Beaver metro Pont Marie (rue des deux ponts). Although having said that I only know one Canadian (Anglophone) over here and she doesn%26#39;t go to either ! But then nor does she frequent the embassy.

Not sure that there%26#39;s much beyond the Stanley Cup playoffs, for Canadians to gather for in Paris but there is definitely a %26#39;..Canadian community..%26#39; there. Canadians seem to be right up there amongst international %26#39;..ex-partiots..%26#39; communities just about everywhere ya%26#39; go....a disproportionate number in warm, sunny climates...where it seldom snows.

As has already been noted The MOOSEHEAD, on rue des Quartre Vents in Saint Germain....and THE BEAVER on rue des Deux Ponts on Ile Saint Louis whould be good places to look for %26#39;em. You can try checking it%26#39;s web site to get some idea of events...or contact someone there directly, via e-mail, to find out more...or contact Molson%26#39;s export manager to find the address of their largest customer(s) in Paris.

MOOSEGHEAD %26amp; BEAVER--

Annalef ~%26gt; Interesting that you brought this up. I was wondering just today how Canadians get on with the Parisians. I read quite often on hear about Americans and how they get on in Paris. Are anglophone Canadians easily distinguishable from American tourists or do I have to wear a maple leaf on my head? Are you an anglophone Anna? And if so does everyone immediately think you are an American? And what do you do?

Thank you everyone for your good info!

I have checked france-canada.org but unfortunately the site is under construction. I%26#39;ll return in few days or weeks.

I%26#39;ll visit the pubs as well! :°)

Cheers,

Annalef

onward, my SO is a Candian of the more anglo bent and he is ALWAYS taken as an American. Worse than that, half the time that he says he is Canadian, they think he is just lying and really is American.

When I corrected one waiter he replied, %26quot;Oh well, its really the same thing, isn%26#39;t it?%26quot; I replied, %26quot;I guess that makes you Belgian.%26quot;
