renovations @ Notre Dame?

Is there currently renovation work being done at Notre Dame? I saw some photos of scaffolding covering nearly all of the church. Are these out-of-dates photos, or does work continue? I%26#39;ll be in Paris in 3 wks or so, and was curious...

ive just returned from paris 2 days ago and i visited notre dame and saw it from a river cruise and i never saw any scaffolding. a couple of other churches i went too had scaffolding but i didnt mind because id rather the church be looked after :)

As a matter of fact, the last of the scaffolds on the front of ND came down on Tuesday. At this moment, there is no scaffolding at all but they will begin work on the sides of the cathedral soon so this may be the last chance to see her un-obscured for several years.

metromole !! Im going on 11 March

When you say soon I presume u mean a few weeks time? Do you have any reliable info on the dates???

I don%26#39;t know when the next phase starts but they did completely haul away all the scaffolding instead of moving it to another place on the site.

just pray they don%26#39;t erect any more scaffolding INSIDE the church. I finally got to see the rose windows unobstructed on my last visit a couple weeks ago. but you have to figure anything that old is going to need nearly constant attention to keep it beautiful.

There is an unwritten rule of travel:

Whatever ONE SITE you wish the most to photograph will be obfuscated by scaffolding the ONE TIME you are able to see it in person.

When there is refurbishing or cleaning it affects only a small part of the cathedral. There are still many angles to take photos from.

Seeing it with no scaffolding is however a special treat.
