Bad Lodgis experience

We went through lodgis.com for a short vacation rental. While *they* speak english, but the majority of the arrangements are made directly between you and the landlord who, in our case, did not. Once you add up the hidden costs (such as public liability insurance [responsabilit civile] which the contract requires you to have, courier costs for sending the contract to them within the time limit, conversion fees for getting the money to the landlord in a form that they accept), we did not save money.

When we return to Paris, we%26#39;ll stay at one of the serviced apartments listed in various travel guides (lonely planet has several) -- we will *not* do business with Lodgis again. If the hot water system breaks in a serviced apartment, they move you into another apartment. If the hot water system breaks in an apartment you rent through an agency like Lodgis, you get a cold shower (or at least we did!).

I%26#39;m sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your apartment rental. How was the rest of the trip?

How long was the rental term? Just curious.

We share your opinion of Lodgis although they did come through for us on a 4 month rental back in 1999. Each time we tried to use them after that, we were drowned in fees and their inventory of apartments was kinda disappointing. We%26#39;ve had great luck with VRBO however.
